I'm a University Lecturer in English and the author of a novel, The Secret of Hurricanes (MacAdam/Cage 2002). My life is summed up by Rumi, who said: "My story gets told in various ways: a romance, a dirty joke, a war, a vacancy." Rumi's quote is the epigraph to Hurricanes. The purpose of this journal is to explore creativity and the writing life.

Haiku #15
Little whirling dervish, my black and white dog dances for a slice of cheese
I tried doing some Haiku's for awhile on my AOL journal...my plan was to put a haiku to a photo now and then...your journal reminded me...I lost some of the older photos but the words...they remained...thanks for the reminder..I"m going to repost a haiku..based on this rule I heard: 17 syllable in 1 minute...the minute Haiku...:) Maria
