Overview

I thought it was time for an overview of collages. It feels so good to be making images again. I love seeing them in one place like this. It makes me want to make more.

I love this--looks like a poster. When you get 'em printed up and start to selling, put me down for two.

I love that the Sacred Heart is in the center.

This is quite beautiful and hypnotic. I could look at it for hours. Theresa, are you looking to exhibit any of your work? - because you should. And did you have a design re the placement? Is there a theme that you planned, because I do not see them here in chronological order.

What an artist you are!

Love, Vicky

Somehow this collage gives me a feeling of "complete." Unified or whole might also describe this feeling I have. I like how you say this makes you want to make more. What is it that gives us desire and energy? I'm trying to listen to that, myself. Love your collages. Beth

Theresa, you are amazingly talented. I've loved seeing the individual collages that you've posted, but seeing this grouping literally took my breath away.

For me, the religious icon (with its slight twist) detracts from the whole. I did not care for it alone, either. The religious icon seems like rote homage rather than art. We live in a time when it is risky to criticize the religion that has confiscated national politics, but it is, in my opinion, risky to embrace it, too. By risky, I mean risky to the spirit, and therefore limiting for the artist. My favorite is the one in the lower right corner--the blue sky, the rabbit, the branching. Yet, I agree with Paula who says this looks like a poster. You are prolific, Theresa! (Teagrapple)

This does look like a poster, and it is SO beautiful! Art is good for the soul, whether it's visual or written word or music...I find all of it so nurturing. I'd love to see an exhibit of your works.

"I was no better than dust, yet you cannot replace me. . . Take the soft dust in your hand--does it stir: does it sing? Has it lips and a heart? Does it open its eyes to the sun? Does it run, does it dream, does it burn with a secret, or tremble In terror of death? Or ache with tremendous decisions?. . ." --Conrad Aiken

From the First Chapter

The Secret of Hurricanes : That article in the Waterville Scout said it was Shake- spearean, all that fatalism that guides the Kennedys' lives. The likelihood of untimely death. Recently, another one died in his prime, John-John in an airplane. Not long before that, Bobby's boy. While playing football at high speeds on snow skis. Those Kennedys take some crazy chances. I prefer my own easy ways. Which isn't to say my life hasn't been Shake-spearean. By the time I was sixteen, my life was like the darkened stage at the end of Hamlet or Macbeth. All littered with corpses and treachery.
