How Cold Is It?

That is frost on the inside of the window in my computer room.

It's freeezzzzing here, too! The wind chill this morning is 13 below! Brrr!

Phoebe is doing okay. She still has a lot of energy, and she still likes to chew things (over the weekend, she ate a pen). But she is also still a big sweetie most of the time. She has, unfortunately, been getting shorter walks because of the cold weather. I'm sure she'll love it when spring comes! (Although she also was a big fan of snow the day that we got a few inches. She'd throw it up with her nose, and then chase it. It was so funny to watch! It made me laugh out loud!)

That looks way too cold for my taste, especially after already experiencign two extended cold periods (at least cold by PNW standards) already this year.

I appreciate your ability to think lovely thoughts, Theresa! And yes, the heat is cranked up as high as we can. I'm still freezing.

"I was no better than dust, yet you cannot replace me. . . Take the soft dust in your hand--does it stir: does it sing? Has it lips and a heart? Does it open its eyes to the sun? Does it run, does it dream, does it burn with a secret, or tremble In terror of death? Or ache with tremendous decisions?. . ." --Conrad Aiken

From the First Chapter

The Secret of Hurricanes : That article in the Waterville Scout said it was Shake- spearean, all that fatalism that guides the Kennedys' lives. The likelihood of untimely death. Recently, another one died in his prime, John-John in an airplane. Not long before that, Bobby's boy. While playing football at high speeds on snow skis. Those Kennedys take some crazy chances. I prefer my own easy ways. Which isn't to say my life hasn't been Shake-spearean. By the time I was sixteen, my life was like the darkened stage at the end of Hamlet or Macbeth. All littered with corpses and treachery.
